What is the "mail-in-rebate" for us cellular phones?

What is the "mail-in-rebate" for us cellular phones?

im looking for my boyfriend and I to get a family plan through US Cellular, but we cannot afford to get the phones we want at the discounted price. under neath it it says that we get a whole lot more off for the “mail-in-rebate” and im wondering what that is and if it is applicable to my boyfriend and I.

A mail in rebate is something phone companies do to persuade people to buy the phone. All you do is pay the amount with the rebate included (so if the phone is $ 50 after a $ 50 mail in rebate, you pay $ 100 up front) and then send in the form to get your $ 50 back.

The whole process can take up to 8 weeks, but it usually is a good deal to do this.

You and your boyfriend should be applicable if you are starting a new line of service or upgrading his phone through US Cellular.

1) Have you experienced any negative aspects of owning a cellular phone?
2) Would you be willing to give up having one?
3) Do cellular phones make people “dumber”? (meaning: if they don’t have their cell phone with them, they are useless)

i think cell phones now give people an excuse for being late all the time–i.e. all they have to do is call someone and say they are running late, instead of actually being polite and being on time!…negative aspects for me—it rings way too much, and lots of time i dont feel like talking anyway, or people use it to track me down/keep track of me; i’d love to give mine up; don’t think it makes you dumber, just less polite and more prone to getting in an accident…

I don’t own a cell phone and never have. If cell phones don’t make people dumber, they sure look that way walking around the mall with stuff attached to their head like some cyborg -tumor!And what about manners? Cell phone users stop whatever they’re involved in (like conversation, HOW RUDE!) to scramble around in a tizzy just to find out “Michelle is bored. Whatcha doin?”
Dumber than that? HOW?
