What's your opinion on cell phones in school ?

I want to know a innumerable of opinions about what you reckon of cell phones or cell phones treatment in school && what’s the rule in your school and/or consequences ?

Answer by Christopher
If their shut off in classes then it’s not much of a conundrum. But most students wouldn’t have the respect to shut them off in class which it would bother additional kids in class if it rang. Its not right, some students are trying to learn.

Well the consequences to your health– studies have shown that cellphones cause brain cancer, that wont have a excellent effect on your schooling. The Rule in my school is that you have to have your phone off or on vibrate, but not on ring tone so it wont disrupt the class.

i reckon that students should be able to have their phones on them. they should be able to use them between classes and keep them with them in class. I reckon that they should have them because if their was an emergency with someone in your family they should be able to get a hold of YOU not the office. The office isnt realiable to get a message to you quickly or correctly.

The rule in my school is that your cell phone is to be in your locker turned off. The consequence of having your phone on you is they take your phone and lock it up in a drawer in the office. if you want your phone back you have to have your parents come and get it.

We students have made our own rule in school. Dont get caught! we keep them with us and turn our blue tooth off. some teachers do bluetooth checks and if you have them they take them away. Nearly everyone in my school carries their phones with them and we dont get caught unless we make a mistake with it.

In my rule if the teacher can see it, he/she can confiscate it. You get it back at the end of the day. I reckon this is reasonably a reasonable rule as cyber bullying has been an issue at my school, even if, it is kinda unfair on ohter pupils who just wanna listen to music at break and lunch.

What do you reckon? Answer below!

I need 3 reasons why they SHOULD NOT BAN cell phones in schools, I already have two reasons: for communication with parents, and emergency purposes. Can anyone help me with another reason why they shouldn’t be banned????

Answer by Catie
Well, I judge they should because of these reasons.

*Distraction in classes
*You do not need them in class because teachers have phones you can use
*Students can text message and help their friends cheat
*Students can harass students with pictures of them, ect.
*Students can easily steal them, not beneficial for most are worth $ 100 and up.

Here are some excellent things though.

*Feeling of security – Knowing that your children are accessible anytime is reasonably reassuring for a parent, especially after events such as the Columbine shooting and the September 11th tragedy.

* It brings families collectively – Families don't seem to have much time to spend collectively anymore. With overtime and after-school activities, having the ability to communicate with any one of your family member helps bringing families collectively.

*Cellphones are convenient – Everybody is more busy nowadays. Students are involved in activities after school, and practices and meeting time tend to vary a lot. It is very convenient for a student who does not have access to public transportation to call their parents for a ride when they need one.

To find out the weather-climate? but that’s only if u have internet available!
Or, for family emergencies, like if someone in the family dies, is in the hospital, a birth in the family, if a family member is in an accident, a doctor’s appointment, etc.

Public phones are few, so result a pay phone is not the simplest business in this world. Also getting off campus during the lunch break, to find a public phone, is not possible in all schools.

HELL NO!!!!!!! cell phones are vital. you have these stupid principals at school saying that there will be no emergancy. i’m sure they said that on 9/11 too. and looked what happened, you got the entire country on lock down because of the twin towers life ruined, which really pisses me off because i live in new york. some schools are also terrible and have terrible kids. if there is a fire or a shoot out, kids have the right to call their parents. All this crap about not having cell phones really annoys me. I have a cell phone and keep it on vibrate in class. So i reckon my mom for life smart disparate persons idiots at school, and charitable me a cell in case of emergancy. I am not saying it has to be some fancy model, i got a black razor nothing fancy, yeah it has pictures and ringtones, but i dont use it for entertainment. i use it for the sole purpose of reduction my self in emergancies.
