Q&A: Using other provider cell phones for Metro PCS?
by eviloars
I want to get a new cell phone. I currently have Metro PCS as my provider. I want to know what phones from additional providers work with Metro PCS. Thanks!
I was looking at the LG Voyager, Dare, or Glyde. There touchscreens. Would they work for metro?
Can someone find a list online that shows which phones work for metro?

pretty much any phone from verizon and sprint can be used with Metro pcs network… ANY CDMA phone
how this works… bring the verizon or sprint phone to the Metro store.. tell them you want to FLASH the phone so it can be used with your Metro PCS network.
they will charge you $ 30 to do it… if you jump onto craigslist there are public that can do it as well and get you more function for the phone but its like $ 50 for flash, another $ 50 for internet treatment and more.

does Metro PCS charge you extra when you are roving and calling from another state to your state of residence?
Answer by Geoff S
This depends if you travel to another MetroPCS area or not. While in MetroPCS’ coverage area, you will not incur extra charges. Basically, the MetroPCS home coverage areas are metro Atlanta, Detroit, Dallas/Ft Worth, and populated areas/highways in South Florida and Central California. If you travel outside this area, you will be roaming and access the Roamer Access Network which will let you make calls with a credit card for a couple of dollars per small. Alternatively, MetroPCS has something called TravelTalk which can be enabled with a PRL upgrade any from your MetroPCS dealer or over the air by dialing *228. In addition, you must call MetroPCS (or visit your community dealer) to have the TravelTalk feature activated on your account. Their number is 1-888-8-METRO-8. Having this feature enabled is free. When you roam, you will be charged $ 0.49 – $ 0.79/small depending on the carrier you are roaming on and whether long distance charges are incurred or not.
