Did the New York law forbidding cell phone use while driving work?

civilians are allowed to use cell phones, but only with hands-free set.
taxi and livery drivers are not allowed to use a cellphone in any way if their car is running (even if it’s parked)

either way drivers still used them too often, but it’s helped curb cellphone use.

Is it working? If you mean is it being obeyed? NO. It may have cut down on cell phone use while driving; there is no way to know who is not making a call or is pulling over because of the law. I still see many people talking on cell phones while driving – taxi drivers are the worst. By the way, it is not illegal to talk on the cell phone while driving – it is illegal to HOLD the phone while driving – in their infinite wisdom, New York City lawmakers think it’s okay to talk if you have the phone on speaker or if you use a headset. If I listen to my radio with a headset (as a pedestrian), I can’t hear a car honking its horn. All drivers should be able to hear horns.

If anyone invents a gadget that would disable all cell phones within fifteen feet of me, I would definitely buy one.

I would go with eBay or a pawn shop. Probably the pawn shop for the iPod.

You should probably buy a cell phone with no contract (prepaid phone plan) from a cell phone type of store on line instead of ebay or craigslist. There’s a good website that carries all the different carrier phones and plans. They have the prepaid phones and you can get some really good deals from this website. Friends of mine have shopped from here and really liked the deals and their service. Just click on the link below.
