i recently lost my cell phone and i so lost with out it…i have bad credit and cant afford the deposits most companies are asking for. i dont have the money to buy a new one with out a contract either ie:pre paid cell phones. does anyone have a cell phone they are willing to give away or maybe where i could get a REALLY good deal on one? please help.

Most cell phone will only work with the cell phone provider’s network it was designed for. Thus a Sprint cell phone would be worthless if you are a Verizon customer. There are many prepaid cell phone companies such as Metro, TracFone and Virgin Mobile that offer their phones for $ 20 or less.

Specifically, I don’t like the way people use cell phones to remove themselves from the moment all the time. In the car: on the phone. At work: on the phone. Walking around the store: on the phone. At a family function: on the phone. In church: on the phone.
I can see the value of these phones, for car emergencies, calls to 911 and police, etc. They have no doubt saved lots of lives since their wide use began. And I can see wanting to be removed from certain settings, like waiting rooms, or when you have jitters just before a job interview for example and want another less stressful reality to in effect intervene.
But these times are in the minority. I see people flipping out the little phone so often, I have to wonder when DO these people indulge in and experience the actual environment they are in, without recourse to a friend bailing them out, holding their hand or keeping them company on the other end of the line?
(And yes, I can afford one. They just seem kinda wrong to me.)

I don’t own a cell phone now nor do I have any plans on getting one. Sometimes I wonder if some of these people would be able to function if they didn’t have the phone glued to their ear.

I too avoid cell phones and for the very same reasons…what happened to face to face conversations that actually had some depth…instead of senseless conversations with no privacy? I swear if I see one more idiot talking on the phone while driving badly, I’m going to scream! I wonder if they’d drive any better with that cell phone up their butt!! Also, people taking loudly on their cells in public are annoying and rude, if its not a necessary call, hang up and wake up to the world around you! People miss making new relationships by mindlessly connecting to all their old ones…
