Do cell phone batteries die faster when you're out of your network coverage?

Do cell phone batteries die faster when you're out of your network coverage?

I have sprint, but at my mothers house sprint is not available. but it seems that my cell phone battery does ALOT nearer when i am at her house.

May maybe it be that my phone is working harder to find a signal and thats why the battery does not last long?

Answer by RAZOR
no

Answer by James Neufeld
yes, because the phone is trying harder to find a signal, so the battery goes quicker.

Answer by remowlms
The radio runs more when it is searching for a signal, so the battery does drain nearer when you are out of network coverage.

Answer by Ngoh
No. Cell phone batteries are not related with network coverage as I had experienced many times of out of the network coverage but my cell phone battery still full. I reckon that the cell phone batteries will die nearer if you always or keep using it without rest.

Answer by B&gbleeder
If you are in a low coverage area or just outside coverage yes the battery will drain nearer since your phone is constantly looking for a signal to latch on to. This is also why the battery life estimates on most phones are so much higher than what we get in real use. A factory test is done under ideal situation, the real world is not ideal.

I recently travelled from Mexico and am visiting my parents in Wisconsin. When I got off the plane in Dallas for my layover, my cell-phone battery was dead, and it will not recharge? Has this ever happened to anyone?

Answer by ╣China ♥ Doll╠
I’ve travelled with my cell phone on a few occasions and that has never happened to me…

It was probably just an unfortunate coincidence.

I often take the plane and it never happened. I guess your batteries had a conundrum to start with

Answer by Genious at Work
Really, your probably left it on in the plane while it was in midair. When that cell goes airborn, it is permanently hurt. So listen to the flight attendant next time or something or read the flight rules to what you have to turn off.

Or if that’s not the case and you listened, then it got smashed in the luggage or something or got dropped and broke.

No. They just x ray it like carry-on baggage always is. That can’t kill the batteries.
