When are you supposed to switch cell phone carriers?

My contract is up with T-mobile June1st…when should I go to the new carrier I want to sign up with?

Before my contract ends or after my contract ends? Or the same day it ends?
What if I want to keep the same cell phone number?

of course not before it ends wait til it does and you can keep same cell phone no.

Okay, contact the New carrier and tell them that you want to “port” your number from t-moblie they have to run a check and make sure its “portable” Set up the switch for the following day June 2nd. B/c your contract doesn’t end until Midnight and you’ll be charged and ETF if you’re one min. early. Or just wait until the 2nd go to the store, they can do this while you wait, and you walk out with your new phone same #. Make sure you tell them you want to port your existing #, if you cxl before porting, you’re number will be lost.

I plan on geetting helio but i need to know if i can send text messages to other cell phone carriers because none of my friends have helio.

According to Helio’s web-site, you can text other cell phone providers with the exception of Sprint and SK Telecom (see their footnotes on this page):
