What are the cheapest pay as you go cell phone plans in the US?

I am looking to travel to the US each now and then. Could I buy a cheap phone and use it for a month or so on each visit?

ya see i live in the us, but i have verizon wireless. if you go to a tmobile or verizon you can get a vacation plot for a month. it is only like 40 dollors american money. hey what country do u live in

we use tracfone…for 120 mins we pay 30 dollars…the phone is 20 dollars…no problems with it….and best thing is no contracts!

and text a cell in the philippines from usa, and be able to call usa from philippines, will i need a special sim card for it and everywhere can i get that? do i need to have a calling plot or can i use prepaid calling cards?…. how cheap can i make these calls .. average time of calls would be 45-90 minutes..whats the cost for text messaging? ….how do you call internationally? country code for phills/ country code for us?

I am not sure about all the international calling but you can check out the different prepaid phone plans from the major carriers at the following website. You can even click the order by phone and question them the questions you have to see if it will work internationally and how you work that out.
