How to get a new cell phone without paying extra when the phone bill comes.?

I have a cell phone with AT&T, however, I want to get a new phone. But I don’t want to renew my contract with that phone any pay extra a month for the new phone. Can’t I just buy the new phone, and put my sim card into the new one and that’s all? I was going to buy off Ebay. But I was wondering if I can buy a brand new one as well.

I had a Blackjack 2 not to long ago, and they had to send me 3 different ones, and each time I just switched my SIM into the new phones, my 3rd one broke, so I used my friends old one, no problems for me. So yeah, it you buy from Ebay or a friend, it shouldnt charge you, unless its the Iphone.

Yes you can buy a brand new one at full retail..which is usually $ 250+..unless you are ok with purchasing a Prepaid AT&T phone. They will work just the same when you slip your sim card into them. Wal*Mart has some decent ones ranging from $ 15-$ 100.

I hate my cell phone and I want a different one but I want to keep my plan. How do I do that? Is there some fee to switch phones other than having to buy the new phone? Do I have to actually contact the company to do so or can I just switch the SIM cards?

If you want to keep your plan, you are going to have to buy the phone for retail or off of ebay. What service are you on? If your on Cingular or T-Mobile you can swap your sim card, otherwise you need to have the retailer swap your account onto the new phone’s ESN.
