How far can I separate my cell phone and my blue tooth hands free device?
I am thinking about getting a blue tooth hands free device. I am wondering if I can place my cell phone on the table and walk around the house and still talk on the phone.

Dollar bill hands free

Warning: this tale is doubtless only amusing to two other people.
When pouring in LA (shortly after the CA handsfree law went into effect) we passed this car. When I looked over at the driver I noticed he was holding his cell up to his ear to talk– but to mask it so that no one "knew" that he wasn’t by a hands-free device he had wrapped his cell phone in a dollar bill. Potential enticement for the officer that should have pulled him over? Perhaps. Stupid go either way? Most certainly.
After we got through the bouts of laughter that followed the realization of the "dollar bill hands-free" we tried getting his photo, but sadly were unable to get a quality snap.
Even with a hands-free device, talking on the phone while pouring is a distraction. But trying to drive while holding on to the phone is perilous – to everyone on the road.
In addition to seriously diminishing a person’s ability to focus on pouring, most drivers who try to phone and drive at the same time can’t or won’t use their directionals properly when changing lanes. They often go well over (or just often too far under) the speed limit because they’re paying attention to their call, not their speedometer.
New York City banned cell phone use in cars without a hands-free device a few being ago. Possibly other cities have followed suit. Has yours?
I feel it’s time for a federal law banning cell phone use without a hands-free device while pouring. It’s just as vital to safety as buckling up, so what’s the hold up?
What do you reckon?
