What is the best cell phone plan for someone who wants to text and call people?

I am the only person in my family who desires a phone to text, so a family plot won’t work. Unlimited text would doubtless be excellent but I want to call people too. Cheapest is best. Thank you!

Well get a unlimited texting and calling plot from the a&t network and it costs 25$

Okay this is my situation…

I now have an LG Explorer which I like, except it is about to die, software malfunctions and physical defects, therefore I must get a new phone, well basically a used/refurbished phone off of ebay really since a new phone costs $ 200-600 and that is just insane.

So I was looking on ebay and they have phones like the Palm Treo 700w, a few Blackberries like 7130e, 9630, 7250, etc and also the Motorola Q.

Now I have heard that you need a data plot for blackberries for example, but I don’t have an extra $ 30+ a month, nor do I have any need for the internet or to check my email, I’m not that vital that I need to check my email while I am not home, I’ll just go home and go online if I need to check an email.

Basically what I want to do with the cell phone is text, I am now on a family plot that already pays $ 30 a month for all 5 shape to have unlimited texting, that’s basically all I do with my Explorer and would just get a new one of them but I found the other phones much cheaper, like $ 30-50 instead of $ 100+.

So, my question, can I buy the Treo or a Blackberry and place it on my verizon family plot that has the unlimited texting and use it instead of my Explorer but not have a data plot? Like I said I have no use for internet or email, all I want is the ability to text easily with a nice cheap Qwerty keyboard enabled cell phone and also be able to use it to talk when I need to call someone. That’s all I want to do on the phone, nothing more, nothing less. I like how they look, that is another reason I want it, not for the data plans. Though, if I got the Treo it has word I was told? Is that part of the data plot? So if I had no data plot would I not be able to use it?

Also, delight don’t tell me to just get the data plot, because honestly, unless you are willing to get me $ 30 a month from now in anticipation of next year when my Verizon contract ends, there is no way I am going to be able to afford to get a data plot, therefore there’s no point in signifying just to get it.

Though if you know of a better phone that I can find on ebay that is ending soon, that has a Qwerty keyboard, looks excellent and has no need for a data plot I will take that as an answer too.

Also I have Verizon if I didn’t mention it already… not sure if that makes any difference to helping me, well if you were going to suggest a different phone then it would, since some phones are only for AT&T or Sprint, etc.
Okay if Blackberries HAVE to have data plot, no way of not activating it and asking for no data plot? Then what phone would be a excellent choice, again it must have a full keyboard as mostly it will be used for texting and I can’t text on a regular keypad to save my life. I tried, and failed. Also does the Blackberries that don’t look like the huge ones, the ones like the Pearl, are the data plans automatically added to them too?

If you go with a BB, the data plot is an auto-add on. also, if you are going to buy a phone from anywhere but a licensed dealer, (i.e. ebay) make sure you call customer service and check the esn to be sure it’s not locked/stolen
