Prepaid texting plans for cheap cell phones?

Okay this is pretty specific. I want to buy my girlfriend a cell phone, it can have calling and texting, but only texting works too.

Her parents don’t want to pay for one, so is there any phones/plans like this:
Comes with prepaid cards you can use to add texts to your phone
Cheapo cell phones, very basic
Doesn’t have to come with minutes for calling.

Basically I just want a phone for only texting, and you can add texts to your account with prepaid cards. Any suggestions?

If you fill out the disability forms for it, most providers will have special plans that they only offer to people who they reckon are deaf. This is cheap and mean, though if you only want a texting or internet plot you can do this by asking about disability options. usually, they have plans for the deaf and disabled; at special non-advertized rates. generally costing 1/2 of the acutaly cost.

Yesterday my Alltel cell phone got waterlogged. It’s junk. Everywhere can I buy cheap (but somewhat nice) used Alltel cell phones? I just need a working phone in anticipation of I can afford a new one.

Would anyone be willing to sell their ancient and unused Alltel cell phones?

First, did you let it dry out COMPLETLEY? I would place it in the warmest house possible with the least humidity and leave it for 2 or 3 days. I have heard of many of phones drying out completely then working again. Then I would start checking Craig’s List.

Just the thought of anything mechanical or high tech intimidates me. For example, we have this cool “call waiting” feature on our phone at home, but in the more than 10 being we have had it I have yet to run it correctly. I always have to call one of the two people back that I disconnect.
