Is it a good idea or a bad idea to buy a used cell phone on eBay?

Used cell phone, no plot, so that our current provider can just add it to our unfilled plot.
To NickPayne… can I take our non-working phone to Verizon for repairs? There’s no insurance on our plot and the phone isn’t eligible for an upgrade in anticipation of 08.

Real Terrible Thought. First of all, you have to make sure that the phone you are getting is either unlocked or locked to your service provider. For example, if the phone is locked to T-Mobile, you wont be able to use it with Cingular. And unlocked phones are really expensive. If you want to add a phone to your plot, you should just add a whole new line. You will usually get a free phone, or at a lower price.

i sell and buy on ebay alot and i havent ever had a conundrum with it. the best thing is to check the sellers feedback. and some sellers place return policies on their auctions. there are lots of honest people on ebay, it sucks that a few dishonest people ruin it for everyone!!

also depending on what provider you have u can get a excellent deal on a phone. i worked for verizon and if you have a conundrum with your phone they can offer you a refurbished phone for $ 90 with no contract extension. but i dont know about other companies.

Ensure that all buttons work properly, check the screen for any defects and scratches, and if its a flip phone ensure that it opens and closes properly. You might end up with a phone with a terrible battery, so you may want to question about it. Batteries are a B/T©H to replace sometimes.
